First, second and third winning quilts:

Just over a year ago one of Quiltessential Co. staff members Jane, had an idea. Why don't we make a quilt and donate it or raffle it for a Cancer Research fundraiser? Then we thought maybe some others would like to help make a few blocks – maybe we would get 20 or so if we asked? Much to our amazement and joy over one hundred people helped us make quilt blocks, finish quilt tops, quilt them and bind them, make pillows and table runners and all manner of quilted items.

In one way or another cancer has touched us all. We have helped in the store assisting people make quilts for loved ones going off for treatments, making memorial quilts for those who are left after their loved ones don’t make it, and for those who have survived. We give hugs to those who are diagnosed and to those who are managing through the endless trips to hospitals and doctors. Everyone involved has been walking these same footsteps and it has helped us all to try and do a little or a lot by doing this project.

On January 7, 2007 at 2:00 pm we had a quilt show to celebrate the finished quilts before they are donated to the Canadian Cancer Society for one of the on-line auctions that they have. We will inform you of when they will be available for auction as soon as we have the information.
